Operating rooms (ORs) are estimated to generate up to one-third of hospital waste. In this study, researchers calculated the amount of waste generated by five separate surgeries and concluded that environmentally friendly surgical products – like reusable surgical linens – and waste management strategies would allow ORs to reduce the negative impacts of waste production without compromising patient care.
